Awareness for Life with Aruna Dhammadhira and Sister Khemanandi. We meet weekly on Saturdays from 4-6 pm. We begin with some chanting, followed by meditation (sometimes guided), walking meditation outdoors when possible, a Dhamma talk, followed by an interactive activity or discussion. Twice a month, participants may take the five training precepts for lay Buddhists if they wish. We are currently meeting both in person and on Zoom (hybrid). Mindful Mornings in the Garden with Sister Khemanandi: We meet on Sunday mornings from 8:30-10 am starting with a short reading followed by individual practice in the garden setting at Deer Park. This is an in-person only meeting (only offered during warm months, may be cancelled during inclement weather and during winter).
Eco-Dharma: A course that shows the interconnection of the Dharma (spiritual teachings of the Buddha) and Ecology. Explores ethical principles and the law of interdependence and how they can inform an appropriate response to our current environmental crisis.
Aruna will be drawing upon the work of Joanna Macy, David Loy and Bhikkhu Analayo to present lessons which encourage inquiry and discussion.
This class will be repeated in the Spring and Fall (watch for upcoming dates).
